Ladies and gentlemen! MR. and MRS. STRICKLAND!

It all started when Mark met his neighbour. Her name was Kristen. That one day set in motion a new journey for Kristen and Mark. One could say it was meant to be.

What luck! The weather was fully cooperative. Only the night before, the cool rain of a fall day took leave, giving an opportunity to enjoy one of the last warm days of 2020. The wind was fierce and the air still carried an edge, but the sun kept everyone’s attention for photos!

The “first look” overlooked the iconic Walterdale Bridge. Kristen made her way to her soon-to-be husband and put her hand on him. Of course, the moment was whelming. A tender moment shared between best friends, surrounded by the community that supports them.

We enjoyed the neutral texture of the concrete wall, celebrating the light. We really enjoy the purity of a black and white photos. Without the distraction of colour, your eye has a different focus. The concrete wall offered the perfect backdrop to complement the lighting.

But also, the colour was breathtaking as well…

Kristen and Mark chose to do the formal photography session prior to the ceremony and no fun was spared. We worked to quickly photograph the group and the comradery they offered. Despite the notably cold bite of the wind, they made the photo session memorably fun. Certainly, Mark and Kristen are surrounded by a network of supportive people with tremendously large hearts. Their friendship was supported by history and elevated by the promise of a lifetime of memories to come.

The ceremony took place that afternoon at the Common, a cute restaurant in the heart of Edmonton’s downtown. Everyone did their best to honour the provincial guidelines around pandemic safety. Masks were on, but you could still feel the smiles. After a summer of isolating and avoiding gatherings it was a particularly refreshing opportunity to connect. Social distancing was well managed by The Common. A wedding would not be an easy event to host during a pandemic, but the tables were well distanced and the staff were primarily the only people navigating the room. What a notable effort to keep their guests COVID free! To make the ceremony even more special, Mark’s dad officiated.

Congratulations to you, Mark and Kristen. May you continue to grow together and find a lifetime of happiness and warm memories.
